Former WellPoint Senior Executive Appointed Executive Chairman of Implantable Provider Group's Board of Directors
ATLANTA - Implantable Provider Group's (IPG) announced today that John S. Watts, Jr., former president and CEO of WellPoint Inc.'s Commercial and Consumer business, will lead IPG's board of directors as executive chairman. Atlanta-based IPG offers solutions to healthcare providers, insurers and manufacturers that help promote the most appropriate financial management and oversight of the purchase and reimbursement of implantable medical devices.
Watts has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and most recently served as president and CEO of WellPoint's Commercial and Consumer Business, a $50 billion business that included 14 for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. During his 12 years at WellPoint, the country's largest health insurer with more than 35 million members, Watts held numerous executive positions, including chief executive and president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and president and CEO of the company's national accounts business.
